I mean really...it’s not as if they will be together in five years. Celebrities plan weddings like charity groups plan philanthropic events, only without the philanthropy. You would think there would be an embarrassment factor. With the proliferation of the internet, we get to read about their undying love for each other (think Billy Bob & Angelina), their personal wealth contrasted with miserly receptions (cash bar at Britney & K-Fed’s reception) and guest lists that are made by a public relations firm (or Scientology Church) instead of consisting of those close to the couple.
Just say NO! Sure, my eyes veer left at the check-out counter, but I can’t bring myself to pick up one of these magazines. It’s like growing up and seeing the National Enquirer at the stand. When I wanted a copy my grandmother whispered strongly to me that nice people don’t buy trash magazines. So why are the formerly respectable magazines churning out this trash? Are our lives just that pathetic that this is considered interesting? Just because they are celebrities doesn’t make it any less tacky. Let’s send a message — we don’t care anymore. I’d rather read about a $2,500 wedding reception at a church hall in Peoria than the latest Pam Anderson Nuptials.
